Barney actually looked confused. “I dunno,” he said. “It was just one of those things.”
Smokey could understand that. After all, a kitty couldn’t really tell all of his or her secrets, right? Anyway, it didn’t matter, they were all cruising and just flat-out purry. Even Ace and Casey stopped yowling at each other and Ace seemed really happy just driving. At second glance though, Smokey noticed that Casey was fast asleep, snoring with the whiskers twitching. Smokey had to double check to make sure that Ace wasn’t falling asleep. As a matter of fact she leaned over a little to close and fell into the front seat.
Now that scared Ace enough to slam on the breaks which woke Casey, Baby and Tommy. “Whaaaaaaaaaaat in the meow are you doing?” Ace screeched. “You trying to get us killed?”
Smokey felt like a little kitten that had just gotten caught with her paw in the catnip jar. “I was just trying to see if you were falling asleep!”
Baby, who really wasn’t to happy about being woken up actually reached over and managed to pull Smokey to the back. “You are way too nosy!” she said.
Now Smokey was huffy! She actually gave Baby a paw across the nose. “You’re nothing but a big, puffy furball!”
